Frank Darabont Fires The Entire Writing Staff of The Walking Dead!

Whoa! Reports are popping up everywhere that Frank Darabont has fired the entire writing staff of The Walking Dead as the series gears up for its second season! Nobody has been able to cite their source for this piece of crazy news, so there is a chance that it might turn out to be just a rumour, but it doesn’t seem likely that it will. Now, to be fair, Darabont co-wrote most of the episodes in season one, and he’s a pretty talented writer, but firing all of his writing staff seems extreme, especially since the show’s popularity is only going to escalate. I must say, this has shaken my confidence in Darabont’s ability to keep the show going. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see how it plays out.

One last note about this rumour that concerns me is that nobody has confirmed or denied that Robert Kirkman, the creator of the original comics and the writer of at least one episode, wasn’t among those writers who were fired. If Kirkman’s off the show, then I’m really worried. When I know more about this, readers, so too will you.
