A Tribute to Elizabeth Taylor (1932-2011)

Hollywood icon Elizabeth Taylor has died due to congestive heart failure. An actress from an early age, Taylor began her career in Lassie movies such as Lassie Come Home and Courage of Lassie. But it was the film National Velvet, wherein Taylor plays a young horse-obsessed girl who trains her horse to compete in the Grand National. Taylor also had memorable acting turns in films like Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? and Ash Wednesday, acting alongside other terrific actors such as Paul Newman and Michael Caine. Later in life, she took some, er, more unusual roles, including a role on General Hospital, a guest appearence on Captain Planet and the Planeteers, and the role of Pearl Slaghoople in The Flintstones movie.

But I will always remember her from National Velvet. Rest in peace, Liz.
