Sunday Short Reviews

Every Sunday, Gill delves into his archive of over 800 movie reviews and randomly selects three for your enjoyment! Here are this week’s…

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
The design is gorgeous, the music and plot totally operatic, the actors fantastic…in short, a great, bloody, musical. It feels as though Tim Burton has returned to his roots with this one. Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter are great, but it’s Sacha Baron Cohen as the rival barber Alfonso Pirelli who steals the show – if the movie has one fault, it’s that he isn’t in it more.

Two Weeks Notice
I seem to recall there being a scene involving someone getting sling-shotted into a big tub of ice cream. In fact, that’s all I remember about this movie.

Big Momma’s House
I just don’t understand what’s so funny about black dudes in drag and/or fat suits. Sorry, Martin Lawrence, Eddie Murphy and Tyler Perry.
