Before They Were Stars: Eli Roth as an Extra in “The Lost World: Jurassic Park”

UPDATE: From Eli Roth’s Twitter on April 18, 2011:

“Some very sweet B-day tributes out there, love this one via @the_back_row. It’s me being the WORST EXTRA EVER.”

Many thanks for the plug, Mr. Roth!

Since it’s Eli Roth’s birthday today and I did a “Before They Were Stars” feature on Jeff Goldblum yesterday, I think it’s only appropriate that I find some way to tie the two men together. When Eli Roth first broke into Hollywood, he had to pay his dues by working as an extra on numerous films and TV shows. In this ten-second clip, you can see him sharing the screen with Jeff Goldblum as an extra reading a newspaper by the subway doors in The Lost World: Jurassic Park. As a bonus, here’s a clip of the lecture scene from the Barbara Streisand romantic comedy, The Mirror Has Two Faces. At the 4:03 and 4:56 marks of this clip, you can see Eli in a purple sweater as an extra in the audience.
