Stake Land is Zombieland Minus the Zombies and the Sense of Humour

Here we have a trailer for Stake Land, a film that’s basically taking the formula of a zombie movie and replacing the zombies with classic, monstery, throat-tearing vampires (as opposed to those soft, sparkly ones). I can definitely get behind the style of this film, and early reviews indicate that it’s actually pretty good, but I guess I just feel like this story has been told before, and probably better. But hey, that’s not going to keep me from seeing it! It’s got monster vampires, action, blood and guts, and a Mickey Rourke wannabe! Here’s a plot summary:

Martin was a normal teenage boy before the country collapsed in an empty pit of economic and political disaster. A vampire epidemic has swept across what is left of the nation’s abandoned towns and cities, and it’s up to Mister, a death-dealing, rogue vampire hunter, to help get Martin safely north to the New Eden.

Stake Land comes out in limited release on April 22, 2011.
