Before They Were Stars: Kevin Tighe in “Narcotics: Pit of Despair”

Gill’s “Celebrity Birthday of the Day” today is for character actor Kevin Tighe, who starred in a 1967 anti-drug short film called Narcotics: Pit of Despair. Gill has already included a short clip of the iRiff him and I did on the film, but really, Narcotics: Pit of Despair deserves to be shown in its full glory here at The Back Row. Tighe plays a rather old-looking high school student who decides to experiment by smoking a bit of marijuana, but of course, weed is apparently such a dangerous and addictive drug that Tighe transforms into a full-blown heroin junkie within days! Highlights of this video have to be Tighe’s Amish-looking drug pusher and the voice-over narrator who delivers such hip-sounding dialogue as: “Forget it, man, and get with the countdown. Shake this square world and blast off for kicksville!”.
