Before They Were Stars: Derek Jeter is Interviewed on “Kids News Network”

This past week has been a huge one for Major League Baseball fans as legendary New York Yankees shortstop played the final games of his long and illustrious career and even managed to get the game-winning hit in his last game at Yankee Stadium. So we’ll travel back in time to early 1996 when Jeter was still a relatively unknown rookie with only a handful of major league games under his belt and found himself being interviewed by a 12-year old on a local New York show called Kids News Network. Jeter discussed his desire to earn the starting shortstop job with the Yankees in the upcoming season and he obviously did just that and never looked back. Incidentally, Scott Good, the now-grown up kid who conducted the interview, was the one who posted this clip on Youtube.
