Before They Were Stars: Alex Trebek Hosts “Reach for the Top”

It’s easy to forget that when he took over Jeopardy! in the mid-eighties, Alex Trebek already had a plethora of game show hosting gigs under his belt. Some of those game shows are pretty obscure, but Trebek’s first major hosting gig was the popular Canadian quiz show, Reach for the Top, which ran for over 20 years and pitted teams of high school students against each other. Trebek hosted it for a time during the 1960s, so here’s your chance to see a pre-moustache, pre-afro Alex Trebek in glorious black-and-white.
