Greta is a young American woman who takes a job as a nanny in a remote English village, only to discover that the family’s 8-year-old is a life-sized doll that the parents care for just like a real boy, as a way to cope with the death of their actual son 20 years prior. After violating a list of strict rules, a series of disturbing and inexplicable events bring Greta’s worst nightmare to life, leading her to believe that the doll is actually alive.

Being that I love cheesy horror movies, I always look forward to January and February, because those months are generally the dumping grounds for only the worst horror films. And here’s a trailer for the first of the year: The Boy. It’s a Child’s Play meets Gremlins, and y’know, it almost had me. The set up for this film might be pretty corny, but the mounting tension displayed for most of this trailer was kinda cool. But then they did that thing with the painting, and all hope was lost. Still, this looks hilarious. Watch out for Brahms!

The Boy comes out January 22, 2016.
