He is a bad egg, and he’s caught regular!

After Eagle vs. Shark and What We Do in the Shadows, Taika Waititi is rapidly becoming a director that I’m always going to keep an eye on. His work is consistently quirky and fun, and with each new movie he goes further and further into interesting new territory. His latest is Hunt for the Wilderpeople, and features Sam Neill as a gruff New Zealand bushwhacker who has to take his troubled foster-nephew under his wing after the kid is thrust into his care. The two of them head out into the wilderness, but after Neill suffers an injury delaying their return, a full-scale manhunt is launched to find the pair. I won’t mince words: this looks absolutely hilarious.

Hunt for the Wilderpeople comes out March 31, 2016 in New Zealand and should spread to North America soon after.
