Before They Were Stars: Dustin Hoffman in “The Star Wagon”

Before his breakthrough role in The Graduate, Dustin Hoffman had himself a fairly successful career on stage. At one point, Hoffman acted in the Maxwell Anderson play, The Star Wagon, playing the dim-witted apprentice of a scientist who invents a time machine. In 1966, a taped version of a stage production of The Star Wagon aired on television, giving Hoffman some of his earliest exposure in front of a camera.
