That’s my peculiarity

When his beloved grandfather leaves Jake clues to a mystery that spans different worlds and times, he finds a magical place known as Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. But the mystery and danger deepen as he gets to know the residents and learns about their special powers…and their powerful enemies. Ultimately, Jake discovers that only his own special “peculiarity” can save his new friends.

Maybe I’m just longing for Tim Burton’s former glory from when I was growing up, but in spite of recent stuff like Dark Shadows, I still look forward to seeing what his latest project will be. And after watching this trailer for Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children, my hope is that the Tim Burton directing this film will be closer to the Big Fish Tim Burton than the Big Eyes Tim Burton. This looks pretty neat! Kind of a 1930’s-flavoured X-Men or something. Anyway, it seems like the perfect material for Burton’s sensibilities, so if he manages to bungle this one, I’d say he’s lost his touch.

On another note, what’s the deal with the ten-second mini-teaser before the actual trailer? What purpose does that serve? It ruins some choice shots!

Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children comes out September 30, 2016.
