I wasn’t all that invested in the first trailer for The Neon Demon, the latest film from director Nicolas Winding Refn, but I think this might be one of those cases where the best stuff in the movie is too graphic or intense for mainstream audience consumption. Because man, I’m way more into this red band trailer than I was for the previous one. I figured that this was just going to be Black Swan with supermodels instead of ballerinas, but I’m starting to think that this might also incorporate slasher movie elements. Regardless, this trailer sold me. I’m on board again, Mr. Refn. Well done.
The Neon Demon comes out July 1, 2016.
