Twist and Split

Though Kevin has evidenced 23 personalities to his trusted psychiatrist, Dr. Fletcher, there remains one still submerged who is set to materialize and dominate all the others. Compelled to abduct three teenage girls led by the willful, observant Casey, Kevin reaches a war for survival among all of those contained within him—as well as everyone around him—as the walls between his compartments shatter apart.

I find myself at a loss for words as I watch this trailer for the new M. Night Shyamalan trailer Split. It is bafflingly bad, to the point where I can’t quite believe what I’m seeing. James McAvoy has 23 different personalities, one of whom is this wholesome housewife, one of whom is a psychopathic priest, one of whom is a 9-year-old boy, and one of whom is an entity known as the beast who…may actually change shape into a monster? Oh my god, Shyamalan, what have you done this time? Will you actually top the climactic scene in the The Visit where a small child has a soiled diaper smushed in his face? Oh, and how much do you want to bet that the lead girl is one of his personalities? What a twist!

Split comes out January 20, 2016.
