Werner Herzog is a bit of a puzzle, as far as filmmakers go. His films have been undeniably influential, but I don’t think I would classify any of them as comedies (except for possibly Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans, which has a lot of dark comedic elements to it). At the same time, Herzog himself has come to be seen as a comedic character, and an entire meme has appeared in which someone imitating Herzog reads childrens’ books. Here we have “Herzog” reading “Twas the Night Before Christmas”, and I honestly don’t think I’ve ever heard a better interpretation of this holiday classic.
