Last Sunday, I posted a news story about a masked vigilante calling himself Phoenix Jones who has begun making headlines as a real-life crimefighter. In the article, I said that I thought it was a pretty bad idea for all the same reasons that are generally outlined in superhero movies. Well, here’s the proof, people. Someone kicked Phoenix Jones in the face and broke his nose, and this has caused the cops to trying and convince Phoenix to quit fighting crime. The fact that, in this clip, Phoenix doesn’t even acknowledge that he might have been shot and killed just reinforces why you really should leave the crimefighting to the professionals.
UPDATE: I can’t believe I’m writing this, but we were just contacted by Phoenix Jones’ associate Red Dragon! Red Dragon assures me that the River City Superheroes don’t interfere in police investigations or attempt to dole out their own brand of justice, which I think is a good thing. Phoenix Jones’ injury does still call into question whether or not the RCS should be doing what they do, but I believe their hearts are in the right place.
