Anyone who reads The Back Row knows that I am an unabashed fan of big, CGI robots. They just look so damn cool, and if the special effects are good enough, I can forgive an entire movie of utter crap so long as it shows me some wicked, eye-poppingly cool robots fighting in a live action setting. The direct result of my robot fetish is, of course, that I really enjoy the Transformers movies. I know, I know, as a student of cinema, a man with a degree in film, I should have better taste than the schlocky, mindless, explosion-riddled trash piles that are Michael Bay’s ludicrous movies about giant robo-warriors from outer space. But I don’t. As soon as I see a vehicle reconfigure itself into a big robot, I’m a little kid again and I don’t give a damn about Shia the Beef and whatever mannequin he’s wooing this week. I’ll also admit to having fun imagining Michael Bay behind the camera with a toy raygun going “POW! POW! KAPWING! KABOOM!”
All of that to say: here’s a new trailer for Transformers: Dark of the Moon! Look at those giant robots! Wooooo!
Transformers: Dark of the Moon comes out July 1, 2011.
