I’m seriously divided on this one. Tom and Dan Heyerman of webcomic Pants Are Overrated have drawn two Hobbes and Bacon strips – comics that flash forward 26 years in the lives of Calvin, Hobbes, and Susie Derkins from the best comic of all time: Calvin and Hobbes. The brothers Heyerman have done a tremendous job here, capturing the artistic charm and whimsical humour of Bill Watterson’s magnum opus, but at the same time, they’re treading on holy ground. Now, had this just been a piece of fan art, I could get behind it, but the fact that they’ve drawn a second strip and have people demanding a third seems to imply that they will be creating more. It just feels so wrong. Also, that Donald Trump reference seems a bit out of place to me.
Anyway, part of me is really enjoying these, and part of me isn’t. Where do you guys come down on the matter? Do you approve of these?
Look under the cut for the second Hobbes and Bacon strip.
