Oh, Studio Ghibli. How do you do it? How do you so consistently make movies that I instantly adore? After watching this trailer for Hayao Miyazaki’s next film Arrietty, based on the novel The Borrowers, I’m beginning to think that Miyazaki made a deal with some kind of evil spirit that has allowed every single one of his whimsical, wonderful films to be a glorious work of beauty. Look at how gorgeous that 2D, hand-drawn animation is! I will take this over computer animation any day of the week. Yes, even Pixar’s work. There is nothing that can compare.
Arrietty comes out in North America February 17, 2012, and the dubbed version features the voices of Saoirse Ronan and Mark Strong!
