Sean Bean’s first acting job in front of a camera came in 1984 when he appeared in this commercial for Barbican Lager. Sporting a killer mullet, Sean is seen drinking a can of Barbican on a plane when the pilot is incapacitated, prompting him to march into the cockpit and land the plane himself. I initially questioned this commercial’s message that drinking alcohol can help you successfully land a plane until I discovered that Barbican Lager was actually a non-alcoholic beer. To no one’s surprise, Barbican Lager is not brewed in Britain any more, but it apparently remains popular in the Middle East.
