I can’t really make my mind up about director Lucky McKee. He hasn’t done much (but has done enough, apparently, to be referred to as an “acclaimed” director), and I haven’t been all that keen on the two films of his that I have seen – May and the Masters of Horror episode “Sick Girl”. But I’ve gotta admit, I’m intrigued by the twisted premise of The Woman:
When a successful country lawyer captures and attempts to “civilize” the last remaining member of a violent clan that has roamed the Northeast coast for decades, he puts the lives of his family in jeopardy.
That’s a pretty interesting spin on the captive-getting-loose-and-killing-her-captors style of horror movie, and I’ll probably see this out of curiousity alone. But I dunno, Lucky. You haven’t earned my trust yet.
The Woman comes out October 14, 2011.
