The last time I wrote about the upcoming remake-ish prequel of The Thing, I speculated that it might actually be a pretty fun time at the movies and could, in fact, be something of a worthy successor to John Carpenter’s film. Take a look at some of the other remakes of classic horror movies. Zack Snyder’s Dawn of the Dead remake was badass, the remake of The Crazies far surpassed the original, in my opinion, and even the remakes of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Friday the 13th weren’t so bad as to be offensive. At worst, this version of The Thing will turn out like the remake of another Carpenter film: The Fog. And does anyone remember The Fog remake? Nope! All of this to say that this red-band trailer for The Thing looks pretty cool, in a monstery way, and even if it sucks, at least Carpenter’s film will still be awesome and this new Thing will fade into obscurity as quickly as The Fog remake did.
The Thing comes out October 14, 2011.
