Chris Carter is one of those guys whose careers are built all around a single property. In Carter’s case, that property is The X-Files, and what an awesome property it is! With 9 seasons and 2 movies, The X-Files is considered by many (myself included) to be one of the best sci-fi TV shows of all time. Sadly, Carter was unable to recapture the magic that made The X-Files so great with his other TV series – Harsh Realm, Millenium and The Lone Gunmen – but many of them still have cult followings today. As campy as it was, I totally love The Lone Gunmen. Fun fact: even though Joss Whedon was on board for it, Fox nixed the idea of a crossover between The X-Files and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. A shame, since that could have been the coolest thing ever. Carter has been off the radar for some time after The X-Files: I Want To Believe didn’t prove to be the biggest box office draw, but apparently he has a new film in the works called Fencewalker, and seeing as Carter always brings something interesting and unusual to the table, I’m pretty intrigued to hear more about that project as time goes on. Carter turns 55 today.
