One of the most meta, self-referential things in television history was the ongoing storyline on Seinfeld where Jerry and George sold a pilot to NBC for “a show about nothing” which was based on their own lives. In this scene, they hold auditions for actors to cast in the roles of themselves and you can see a younger, unknown Jeremy Piven come in to audition for the role of George. You’ll notice that even though this was filmed 18 years ago, Mr. Piven had a lot less hair than he does these days. Hmmmm…
