A new trailer for Peter Berg’s big-screen “adaptation” of the classic Hasbro game Battleship has appeared and, as I said when the first trailer turned up, I think this is the best we could have hoped for. The movie was bound to be stupid from the start, so it’s nice to see that they’re going really over the top with things in the hopes that flashy special effects will cover up the ridiculousness of it all. What’s more, I love that they’re sticking some of the more “iconic” aspects of the game. You just know someone’s going to bust out a numbered and lettered grid so that the navy can fight the alien menace in spite of the communications-disrupting barrier. It’s just so ludicrous I can’t help but love it.
