I can actually remember the moment that I found out who Xander Berkeley is – I had looked him up because I dug his steely performance as Marshall Nathan Van Cleef in Shanghai Noon (he is debatably the best thing about that movie) and realized that he’s been in LOADS of things! His television work alone is staggering, with roles on shows such as M*A*S*H, Miami Vice, The A-Team, The X-Files, CSI, ER, 24, Jericho, and Law & Order populating his resume. His film roles are nothing to scoff at either, as Berkeley has performed in loads of popular movies including Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Kick-Ass, A Few Good Men, Candyman, Apollo 13, Leaving Las Vegas, Air Force One, and Amistad! Berkeley has also done voice work, providing voices for the animated series Aaahh!!! Real Monsters, Teen Titans, Gargoyles, and The Spectacular Spider-Man. In case you haven’t guessed by now, I’m a big fan of Berkeley’s work as a character actor, and I look forward to seeing more of him in the years to come. Xander Berkeley turns 56 today.
