Hail Theoden King! I don’t feel like enough movie viewers are aware of just how awesome Bernard Hill truly is. Check this out: he’s been in two of the only three films ever to be nominated for 11 Oscars, and he’s one of only three actors to have starred in more than one movie that took in over a billion dollars! Hill started his acting career on the stage at the Manchester Polytechnic School of Drama and first came into prominence in Britain with his role in the BBC “Play for Today” The Black Stuff and the sequel series Boys from the Blackstuff. In the same year as Boys from the Blackstuff was gaining popularity, Hill landed a supporting role in Gandhi, and his association with an Oscar-winning movie helped launch his career as a film actor. Among the numerous films Hill has appeared in are The Ghost and the Darkness, Titanic, The Scorpion King, The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, and Valkyrie. What’s more, he voiced Sir Walter Beck in the game Fable III! Bernard Hill turns 67 today.
