Cave Johnson here. J.K. Simmons is one of the coolest character actors working today, and his fast-talking, wisecracking manner is nothing short of iconic. What’s more, this guy’s resume is seriously cool. Simmons started off on the stage following his graduation from the University of Montana, and performed in many Boardway and Off-Broadway productions including the revival of Guys and Dolls. He then moved into television and film acting, and even some of his earliest credits are quite noteworthy, such as his appearences in the movies The Jackal, For Love of the Game, and The Gift. But it was the Spider-Man films that really brought Simmons into the limelight as an actor, with his portrayal of J. Jonah Jameson being his most memorable to date. Since the Spider-Man movies brought him so much attention, Simmons has performed roles on the TV series OZ, ER, Arrested Development, and The West Wing, and has appeared in such films as The Ladykillers, Thank You For Smoking, Juno, Burn After Reading, and Up In The Air! But he’s done even more than that, with another terrific turn in the game Portal 2 as me, Cave Johnson, being a strong contender for his most memorable performance. With over a hundred credits to his name, Simmons is an actor I can’t get enough of, and I look forward to seeing what he does next. Simmons turns 57 today. Cave Johnson, we’re out.
