Cracked recently published an interesting article entitled “5 Awful Things Nobody Tells You About Being an Actor”, which talked about how three actors who appeared in a Listerine commercial swishing mouthwash for a few seconds probably had to beat out hundreds of other actors in an audition that consisted of nothing more than showcasing your skill at swishing mouthwash. I thought about that during this early nineties commercial for the Habritol nicotine patch, which features about half a dozen actors doing nothing more than saying the word “Habitrol”, yet they likely had to beat out hundreds of other actors for this privilege. Thankfully, this experience did pay off for one of these actors as you can briefly see Laura Linney showcasing her Academy Award-worthy skills with her pronunciation of “Habitrol”.
