Man, if you made a movie with this title today, everybody would just assume this was the story of a boy who spent too much on Internet comment boards. But, alas, way back in 1984, trolls were merely just known as creatures who lived underneath bridges, so The Boy Who Loved Trolls is a harmless made-for-TV family movie about a boy who travels into a fantasy world. The film is notable for featuring one of William H. Macy’s earliest roles as a turtle named Socrates, though their budget for a turtle costume seemed to consist entirely of giving him a green hat.
