In the futuristic action thriller Looper, time travel will be invented – but it will be illegal and only available on the black market. When the mob wants to get rid of someone, they will send their target 30 years into the past, where a “looper” – a hired gun, like Joe – is waiting to mop up. Joe is getting rich and life is good… until the day they decide to “close the loop”, sending back Joe’s future self for assassination.
Holy crap. I had high hopes for Rian Johnson’s new sci-fi time travel action flick Looper, but I didn’t expect anywhere near this level of awesomeness. This looks like Minority Report if Minority Report had been directed by Christopher Nolan and crossed with the plot device from Deja Vu. I love the premise, I love the visual style of the film, and I’m a big fan of Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Bruce Willis. I still need to see Rian Johnson’s The Brothers Bloom, but I adore Brick, so I’m very intrigued to see what Johnson does with a bigger budget and a story much more ambitious in scope. Alright, I’ve said enough. Time to watch the preview again. Looper can now officially be added to my most anticipated movies of the year.
