I find myself mildly intrigued by this trailer for Oliver Stone’s latest offering Savages, about a pair of drug runners who find themselves in over their heads when they tangle with the likes of Salma Hayek, Benecio Del Toro, and John Travolta. Soon their girlfriend is kidnapped, and it looks like much bloody mayhem ensues as they try to get her back. The two main guys are played by Taylor Kitsch and Aaron Johnson, and I’m actually looking forward to seeing Kitsch in this film after I enjoyed him in John Carter, and the girlfriend is played by Blake Lively, whom I don’t care about at all, but she looks okay here, I guess. Mostly I’m interested to see what Oliver Stone brings to the table after Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps didn’t do so well at the box office. Savages looks a bit more like Natural Born Killers Oliver Stone, though, and that Oliver Stone always manages to find some way to surprise me. I guess time will tell on this one.
