You know I love showcasing stars back when they were doing cheesy editions of ABC Afterschool Special, so here’s a nice 2-for-1 special from 1982. This particular episode is called Amy & the Angel and even for an afterschool special, the storyline is pretty silly. It’s basically a high school edition of It’s a Wonderful Life where a teenage girl gets depressed and suicidal, so an angel appears to show her what life would have been like if she was never born. Yeah, I’m sure teenagers who really are suicidal would appreciate the notion that an angel can solve all their problems! Anyway, this clip features Matthew Modine as the hunky boy she likes and Meg Ryan as the bitchy popular girl who picks on her.
