Oh boy. How could I not choose this guy for today’s Celebrity Birthday of the Day? Just look at him! He’s holding a chainsaw, and he goes by the name Gackt! That’s just too amazing. Gackt is a Japanese singer-songwriter who has recently moved into the film industry. His film debut was in a movie that he also wrote and composed the soundtrack for called Moon Child, and since then he has appeared on the TV series The Trusted Confidant, Mr. Brain, and Tempest. He’s also provided voice work for the video games Bujingai, Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII, and Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII. Sadly I haven’t seen or played any of these movies, TV shows or games, but I have seen Gackt in the 2010 film Bunraku, which I consider to be underrated, if a bit of a mess. Still, Gackt wasn’t bad in his role, and I’ll be interested to see where his career goes from here. Oh yeah, and as an added bit of trivia, nobody knows his real name! Though it is rumoured to be…Okabe Satoru. Okay, that was a little anticlimactic. Gackt turns 39 today.
