One of the early problems encountered by the makers of The Dark Knight Rises was fans having difficulty understanding Bane’s voice in the ten-minute sneak-peek prologue that was released before Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. Viewers complained that they couldn’t hear a word Bane said under his mask, and even though Christopher Nolan assured viewers that being difficult to understand was part of Bane’s character, fans demanded some work be done to make Bane less garbled. Here’s a video that plays the before and after versions of Bane’s audio mix, and I’ve gotta say, even though I trust Nolan’s judgement, I think tweaking Bane’s audio was definitely a good idea.
