I’m a big fan of Bruce Greenwood’s work, and I feel like he’s an often underappreciated actor. Canadian-born, Greenwood got his start in TV shows such as The Beachcombers and Huckleberry Finn and his Friends in the late 1970s and early 1980s, and he made his film debut with a small part in First Blood. Since then, Greenwood has gone on to act in over 100 film and TV credits, with notable titles including the TV series St. Elsewhere, Danger Bay, Matlock, Jake and the Fatman, Knots Landing, Road to Avonlea, Hardball, Nowhere Man, Conan (as the voice of the superhero The Flaming C), and Young Justice (as Batman). Notable movie credits to Bruce Greenwood’s name include Passenger 57, Rules of Engagement, Thirteen Days, Ararat, Swept Away, The Core, Double Jeopardy, Deja Vu, Dinner for Schmucks, Meek’s Cutoff, National Treasure: Book of Secrets, I, Robot, Barney’s Version, and the Atom Egoyan films Exotica and The Sweet Hereafter. Perhaps his most famous role from recent years was as Captain Pike in the new Star Trek movie…
…but I think some of his best work was in the highly underrated submarine horror film Below.
