Today’s Celebrity Birthday boy is the man with the awesome cheekbones: Guy Pearce. Born in England of Australian/New Zealand lineage, Pearce became interested in the performing arts at an early age, and, besides acting, was also a competetive bodybuilder and fencer. By age 17 he was acting in theatrical productions, and in 1986 he moved into television acting with a prominent role on the TV series The Neighbours. He also had a major role in the series Home and Away in 1991, and in 1994 he gained a lot of attention with his role in the movie Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.
In 1997, Pearce starred in L.A. Confidential, and he’s been a major star in Hollywood ever since, appearing in many famous films including Ravenous, Memento, Rules of Engagement, The Time Machine, The Count of Monte Cristo, The Proposition, The Hurt Locker, The Road, Animal Kingdom, The King’s Speech, Lockout, Lawless, and the upcoming Iron Man 3. Guy Pearce turns 45 today. I wonder if, when he’s a really old fart, he’ll look at all like his ridiculously made-up character in Prometheus…
