I find it pretty amusing that both Len Wiseman and Paul W.S. Anderson were born on the same day, because both filmmakers have made a reputation for themselves as masters of schlocky, flashy, style-over-substance movies, and both directors also cast their wives in, like, everything they make. Wiseman’s career started as a crewmember on the Roland Emmerich films Stargate, Independence Day, and Godzilla. He then moved into commercial directing, creating music videos and TV ads, and in 2003 he made the leap to directing feature films with his debut (starring, unsurprisingly, his wife Kate Beckinsale) Underworld. Since then, Wiseman has directed Underworld: Evolution, Live Free of Die Hard, and the Total Recall remake. He turns 41 today.
