After Kick Ass’ insane bravery inspires a new wave of self-made masked crusaders, led by the badass Colonel Stars and Stripes, our hero joins them on patrol. When these amateur superheroes are hunted down by Red Mist, reborn as The Mother Fucker, only the blade-wielding Hit Girl can prevent their annihilation.
I really enjoyed Kick-Ass back when it came out, but I found the controversy that it stirred up put a lot of people off of it. Caitlyn has admitted to me that she enjoyed the movie, but she feels like she shouldn’t, and in a way, I think that makes the movie a success. Somehow, this colourful, over-the-top, ultra-violent superhero fantasy made people uncomfortable enough to start talking about violence in society. Anyway, all that to say that I loved the film, and I’m looking forward to the sequel. Even though Matthew Vaughn isn’t directing this time around, the trailer for Kick-Ass 2 looks to capture the same spirit as the first, and hopefully it will prove to be The Dark Knight to Kick-Ass‘s Batman Begins. Jim Carrey looks terrific in this! And I love Red Mist’s new incarnation.
Kick-Ass 2 comes out August 16, 2013.
