Before They Were Stars: Andre the Giant in a Martial Arts Movie

Yesterday, we did a Shouts from the Back Row podcast about our favourite movies starring professional wrestlers and, of course, the legendary Andre the Giant’s turn in The Princess Bride got plenty of mention. Well, I can honestly say this clip might be from the most obscure movie to ever star a professional wrestler. In 1967, an unknown 21-year old Andre had a role in a movie from his native France called Chinese Puzzle for Judoka (well, at least that’s what Google translate says the movie is called). It’s amazing to see how quick and agile Andre is during this fight sequence and it’s hilarious to see him give his opponent an early version of the Attitude Adjustment, which is the current finishing maneuver of current WWE superstar John Cena.
