A few days ago, I posted a “Before They Were Stars” clip of a young Leonardo DiCaprio auditioning for the role of Ponyboy on the short-lived 1990 TV series version of The Outsiders. He didn’t get the part, but it turns out the role actually wound up going to 15-year old Jay R. Ferguson, who later go on to fame playing Stan Rizzo on Mad Men. In this clip, you will also see Billy Bob Thornton and David Arquette, who also had early roles as cast members on this show. It’s quite hilarious seeing them trying to make David Arquette look like a greaser badass.
