Like most anthology films, I found the first V/H/S movie to be hit and miss. Some of the segments were awesome and terrifying, some were uninteresting. Overall I enjoyed the movie, but I can’t deny that it dragged at times and occasionally even shied away from the money shots that could have made it amazing. But it looks like the sequel is upping the ante on all fronts, and they’ve even brought in a number of directors whom I enjoy to assemble the parts of this frankenfilm: Gareth Evans (The Raid) and Jason Eisener (Hobo With A Shotgun) in particular, though I am intrigued to see Eduardo “Blair Witch” Sanchez returning to filmmaking after a lengthy hiatus. This movie looks to correct any mistakes the first one made, and I’m actually finding myself pretty excited to see it!
V/H/S/2 comes out July 12, 2013.
