E3 is finally here, which means that we’re about to get our annual glut of video game trailers, and here’s one to start the ball rolling: a trailer for the new entry in the Wolfenstein franchise, called Wolfenstein: The New Order. I have to say, I’m less than impressed. I mean, I’m sure this will be a fun little shooter, but beyond the graphics, Bethesda and company don’t seem to be bringing anything new to the table. The Nazis outlasted World War 2? Seen it – it’s a movie called Iron Sky and it’s been around for a while now. Mechs? Seen ’em, so many times. An FPS game with a variety of machinegun-y weaponry? Man, they were doing that twenty years ago. I should note, though, that this trailer is very well put together. Maybe I’m wrong about this one. Here’s hoping. Also, am I the only one that finds it weird to see a Wolfenstein game trailer that doesn’t have the id Software logo in front of it?
Wolfenstein: The New Order comes out in late 2013.
