Katniss and Peeta’s victory is cut short as the Quarter Quell puts them back into the Hunger Games for the second time.
The Hunger Games was a bit of a disappointment for me, not because it was a bad movie but because it wasn’t a particularly good movie either. Whereas I was hoping for something like Battle Royale, instead I got a dumbed-down, shakey-camera’d teen whine-fest that felt far too emotionless when it was trying to be stoic. At least it had that Wes Bentley future-beard. Anyway, since the first one was bland, I haven’t been all that interested in its sequel, but I must admit that this latest trailer has piqued my interest after all. Even though it looks to retread a lot of the same ground as the first one, I get the sense that they’re going to pull a classic sequel trick here by doing the same thing as the first movie, but bigger and better. Maybe they’ll get it right this time?
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire comes out November 22, 2013.
