Here we go again! After the lackluster performance of films such as Mirror Mirror, Snow White and the Huntsman, Jack the Giant Slayer, and Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters, I was hoping that the live-action fairy tale re-imagining movie trend was over for the time being, but no, of course it isn’t over. Here’s a trailer for Maleficent starring Angelina Jolie and Elle Fanning in a new version of Sleeping Beauty. While Angelina looks badass in the costume, all the fairies and CGI just keeps reminding me of the aforementioned movies that took themselves way too seriously. I dunno, this could be good, but the bad taste in my mouth left by all of the other recent live-action fairy tale films means that I won’t be hurrying out to see Maleficent when it hits theatres.
