Yesterday, I posted a “Robin’s Underrated Crap” column on the infamous sci-fi film/feature-length McDonald’s commercial, Mac and Me. Even if you’ve never seen the film, you might be familiar with one particular scene where the movie’s wheelchair-bound young hero rolls down a hill in his wheelchair and plummets off a cliff into a lake, as Mac the rubbery bug-eyed alien watches in horror. This is because of a very popular running gag from Late Night with Conan O’Brien. Whenever Paul Rudd appears as a guest, he claims he’s going to show a clip from his latest movie, only for him to pull a bait-and-switch and show the infamous Mac and Me wheelchair scene instead. Since the gag has been going on for nearly a decade now, here’s a six-minute supercut featuring the nine separate occasions where Rudd has done this.
