On last week’s episode of the Shouts From the Back Row podcast, I surprised Robin and TK by listing The Galapagos Affair: Satan Came to Eden as one of my most anticipated movies of 2014. With such an odd title, it would be easy to dismiss this film as some kind of hack-job horror movie, but in fact it’s a documentary about a truly strange story of a small group of people who decided to escape civilization and colonize an island in the Galapagos. The only problem? They all hated each other. From there, things begin to spiral out of control, with sex and murder running rampant on the island. Not only is the source material pretty amazing, but the movie seems like it will be an interesting exercise in storytelling, with the different points of view being voiced by famous actors like Cate Blanchett, and a large amount of actual home movie footage that was shot by the now dead subjects of the film. Needless to say, I’m intrigued.
The Galapagos Affair: Satan Came to Eden comes out on April 4, 2014.
