I’m still rather puzzled by the fact that this year is seeing not one, but two new Hercules movies being released. How did that happen? Are the movie rights to the character expiring or something? That can’t be right – Hercules is ancient history. But something about 2014 is making studios scream “Hercules! Hercules! Make a new Hercules movie!” I can’t figure it out. Anyway, here’s the trailer for the new Hercules, starring Dwayne Johnson in the title role. As far as sword and sandal epics, I’d say this one looks marginally better than the Clash of the Titans remake, but that isn’t saying much. I’m not holding my breath for a masterpiece here. Interesting that they gave Herc a beard, though.
