If you look at Harrison Ford’s filmography from the 1980s, you’ll see a bunch of all-time classics, but one title which might seem out of place is a drama called The Mosquito Coast. Directed by Peter Weir and co-starring the likes of Helen Mirren and River Phoenix, The Mosquito Coast is quite an atypical Harrison Ford vehicle, to say the least, as he plays an angry, batshit crazy inventor who becomes disillusioned with American society and decides to move his family into the Central American jungles. In the film’s opening scene, a pre-Seinfeld Jason Alexander has a small role as a hardware store clerk who has to hear a grumpy Ford bitch about him selling products which are made in Japan.
