Hoo boy, things are starting to look bleak in the trailer department, folks. The early months of a new year are fast approaching, and that means that we’re about to be bombarded with the crappy, c-grade movies that no one wants to risk releasing at any other point in the year. This is the time when movie studios give us turds because we won’t have anything better to watch, and to kick things off: Spongebob Squarepants – Sponge out of Water. Yikes. Not only are the CGI versions of Spongebob and company kinda terrifying, but the whole thing is just one long exclamation of “WTF!!!” Now, I’ll admit, I did chuckle once or twice, but let me put things into perspective. The first Spongebob movie cost $30,000,000 to make and was released in November of its year. The sequel cost $66,000,000 and is being released in February, up against a crappy-looking Jeff Bridges witch-hunting movie (I’ll be posting a trailer for that later this afternoon) and Jupiter Ascending, which has not only been delayed due to a lack of studio confidence, but has also become a running joke on our podcast. The forecast isn’t good for Spongebob 2: Sponge Harder.
Spongebob Squarepants: Sponge out of Water comes out February 6, 2015.
